Modernization of the electrical infrastructure at the Zhezkazgan smelter using 2,000+ meters of Ex-rated cabling. The project cut power losses by 15% and integrated IoT monitoring for future expansion.

Reliable power distribution is critical for continuous smelting operations. In collaboration with industry leaders Legrand and IEK, NOVABOLT undertook a major revamp of the electrical systems at Kazakhmys’ flagship Zhezkazgan smelter. The goal was to replace aging infrastructure with modern, energy-efficient solutions without disrupting production cycles.

Leveraging our global logistics network, we coordinated shipments directly from Galveston, TX, ensuring materials arrived ahead of schedule. The scope included the installation of over 2,000 meters of explosion-proof (Ex-rated) cabling and next-generation smart distribution panels. Beyond simple replacement, we future-proofed the facility by integrating IoT-enabled components, allowing for remote monitoring and real-time load management. This strategic upgrade met strict local content mandates while significantly enhancing the smelter’s energy reliability.
